Last weekend I attended Dragonmeet with one of my friends. It is an annual convention dedicated to tabletop roleplaying that takes place in West London. I have attended conventions before and this event is quite small in comparison. But that is not a criticism, and as a matter of fact I believe this is a major benefit of the event, giving it much more intimate, genuine atmosphere dedicated to the tabletop roleplaying hobby.
There was a good selection of vendors selling tabletop roleplaying materials and accessories but in my opinion there was a real mix in terms of quality. I found many of the products on sale to be either gimmicky, overpriced or “samey”. If you’re a dice goblin you would love this event.
The event had a selection of very interesting talks covering an array of tabletop roleplaying topics. I attended one very useful talk for DMs/GMs on using sound and voices for effective storytelling and atmosphere creation in tabletop roleplaying sessions.
There were also roleplaying sessions being hosted throughout the day which could be joined if booked beforehand.
Overall this is a good event and I did enjoy it but how much will get out of it depends on what you are looking for.
